Community

Building Bridges

True inclusion starts with authentic connection and shared experiences. As hearing parents of a Deaf child, we’ve learned the importance of building relationships within the Deaf community—not just for us, but for our son. This space is dedicated to helping families like ours connect with the Deaf community, amplify Deaf voices, and foster meaningful relationships.

By exposing Deaf children to Deaf adults, other Deaf children, and CODAs (Children of Deaf Adults), we give them the opportunity to grow up in an environment that celebrates their identity. We also encourage hearing parents to actively engage with the Deaf community, learning directly from its members and advocating for their children.

Raising the 10%

Did you know that 90% of Deaf children are born to hearing parents, but only 10% of those parents learn sign language? We’re committed to raising that number and celebrating parents who are embracing the journey of learning ASL and sharing their stories. Here are some incredible parents who are raising the 10% and inspiring others to do the same:

• Ty
• Felicia
• Cristina
• Cristal
• Erica
• Janna
• Clare
• Brittney
• Beth
• Sheri
• Haneyhouse
• Christy
• Kiersten
• Alli

These parents are proof that learning ASL can strengthen families, foster communication, and
help create a world where every Deaf child feels seen and supported.
